When times are challenging, I automatically gravitate to places I find calming, and there is nothing calmer than sitting and listening to the waves as they hit the beach and roll back into the sea. Interspersed with the sounds of birds, going about their daily lives. Children playing joyfully in the distance.
Closing your eyes and feeling the warm sun on your face, the smell of salt and seaweed filling your senses.
As I open my eyes, my focus falls on the Isle of Wight, so close, yet equally so far away. My dad is from the Isle of Wight, and Lepe Beach here on the mainland holds a special place in his heart. Faced yet again with Dad’s mortality, not knowing how long we have left, I find myself drawn once again to the sea.
